7 Years of Experience Building Custom Cabinetry

I've spent the last seven years focused on custom built-in cabinetry. Davis Finish & Millwork has completed over 50 projects throughout North Atlanta.

I started this business because I saw too many contractors doing quick, cookie-cutter work — the kind that looks fine in photos but starts creaking and sagging after a few years. When I build something, I build it to last. Your great-grandkids should be able to use the built-ins I make for you.

Training and Experience

I trained under Master Carpenter Kreg McMahon, whose work was featured in Better Homes & Gardens and on This Old House with Norm Abram. Over the course of several years, I worked alongside Kreg on 150+ projects, learning traditional joinery techniques, advanced cabinet construction methods, and the level of attention to detail that separates furniture-quality work from standard trim carpentry.

What does this training mean for your project? I learned to build furniture-grade cabinetry using proven construction methods — dado joints, proper wood selection, accounting for wood movement, and building components that won't creak, sag, or separate over time. When Kreg passed away in April 2022, I continued his tradition of quality craftsmanship by starting Davis Finish & Millwork.

Combined with seven years of hands-on experience, I've developed systematic processes that deliver consistent, high-quality results. Every project benefits from both the fundamentals I learned and the refinements I've developed through real-world application.

Professional Equipment and Materials

Quality work requires quality tools and materials. I invest in professional-grade equipment and source materials from specialty suppliers who provide superior products to what you'll find at big-box stores.

Professional Equipment

I use top-tier equipment from Festool, Grizzly Industrial, and Milwaukee. Professional tools don't make the carpenter, but they certainly help deliver the precision and quality my clients expect.

Superior Materials

I source hardwoods and hardware from specialty suppliers who provide better materials at better prices than retail chains. I mill lumber in-house — jointing and planing rough stock so it's perfectly straight and acclimated to local humidity. This is why my built-ins don't warp, gap, or separate over time like work built with off-the-shelf materials.

The right tools and materials are investments in your project's longevity. I choose both carefully to ensure the built-ins I create will serve your family for generations.

My Commitment to Quality

Based in Canton, I serve families throughout North Atlanta who understand the difference between real craftsmanship and mass-produced alternatives. Every project I take on — whether it's a mudroom system, pantry, entertainment center, or home office — receives the same careful approach: precise measurements, furniture-grade materials, solid joinery techniques, and meticulous finish work.

I don't compete on price because I can't deliver this level of quality at discount rates. What I offer is work that will outlast trends, wear, and time itself. Built-ins that become part of your home's story, not something you'll replace in a decade.

Quality craftsmanship isn't cheap, and cheap work isn't quality craftsmanship. I focus on the latter.

What You Can Expect When You Work With Me

Custom Work

Every project is built specifically for your space. No prefab boxes, no shortcuts - just solid, custom cabinetry designed around how you actually live.

Clear Communication

Responsive communication throughout your project. No games, no disappearing for weeks. You'll know what's happening and when.

Transparent Pricing

No hidden fees, no surprise charges. You'll know exactly what you're paying for before I start.

Built to Last

I build furniture-quality cabinetry designed to last 50+ years. Solid construction that your grandkids will inherit.

My Signature Touch

Every project I build includes a hidden compartment where I personally sign my work with the date and my business cards.

It's an old-world tradition - craftsmen used to sign their work where only the owner would find it. Some clients use them for important documents, spare keys, or small valuables. Others just like knowing it's there.

Either way, it's my reminder that I stand behind what I build - literally.
